Guide to configuring Acronis Backup plans on a VPS with cPanel/WHM
Once you have installed the Acronis Backup Plugin in WHM and connected it to your Acronis account, you can create and manage Backup Plans directly from within WHM. This ensures that your VPS, cPanel accounts, and data are protected according to your needs.
Creating a New Backup Plan

- From the left-hand menu, click Acronis Backup.
- You will be redirected to the Acronis Backup Dashboard, where you will see the available options for creating and managing backup plans.
- On the main page, click Create Backup Plan.
- Enter a name for the Backup Plan (e.g., Full_Backup_01 or Weekly_DB_Backup).
- Select what the backup will include:

Scheduling Backups
In the Schedule section, define how often the backup should run:
- Daily (every day at a specific time).
- Weekly (on selected days of the week).
- Monthly (e.g., on the 1st of every month).
- Hourly (every X hours).
Tip: Choose off-peak hours to minimize impact on server performance.
Retention Rules
In the Retention Rules section, specify how many backups you want to keep.
- Example: Keep last 7 daily backups or Keep last 3 weekly backups.
This prevents your storage from filling up with outdated backups.
Advanced Options

- Compression: Reduce backup file size to save storage space.
- Notifications: Configure email alerts for successful or failed backups.
- Pre/Post Commands: Run custom commands before or after a backup.

- Once you’ve completed the configuration, click Save.
- The new Backup Plan will appear in the list.
- You can enable or disable it at any time.
- Click 'Run Now' to execute the plan immediately and verify that it works properly.
