Exporting data from my Papaki services (EU Data Act)

What is the EU Data Act?

Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (EU Data Act) strengthens users' rights to access the data associated with the services they use and to export that data in a format that allows it to be reused or transferred. In this article, you will find information about:

  • cases where data export is carried out through third-party providers,
  • the data available across Papaki services,
  • how to access your data,
  • the available export methods,
  • the supported export file formats.

Important note

Some services offered through Papaki are provided by third-party vendors. In these cases:

  • Papaki provides the service and first-level support.
  • Data export is performed using the tools provided by the respective vendor.
  • The available export formats may vary depending on the service.

Export method
You can view and copy:

Authorization Code (Auth Code / EPP Code)
Most domain extensions provide an authorization code (Auth Code or EPP Code), which is commonly used when transferring a domain to another registrar. The code:
- is available through the domain management interface when supported by the extension,
- may be generated dynamically,
- may be refreshed for security reasons and should not be considered permanent or static.
For this reason, we recommend retrieving the code shortly before initiating the domain transfer process. Read more here.

What if I cannot see my Auth Code?
Depending on the domain extension:
- it may be displayed directly in the Control Panel,
- it may be sent to the registrant's email address,
- it may be provided upon request, which may require identity verification of the domain owner.

What is an Authorization Code (Auth Code / EPP Code)?

The Authorization Code (Auth Code or EPP Code) is used to transfer a domain name to another registrar (registrar transfer). Its availability and use are governed by ICANN policies or the rules of the respective registry and are independent of the EU Data Act. The code is referenced in this article because it may be required when transferring a domain name to another registrar.

For more information, see the guide: ➤ Finding your Authorization Code (Auth Code or EPP Code)

Are domain names exported as files?

No. Domain names are not exported as files. However, you can access data related to your domain, such as:

  • Registrant details,
  • Contact information,
  • DNS records,
  • Nameservers,
  • Authorization codes (where supported by the domain extension).

This information can be used to manage or transfer your domain name. For more information about domain transfers, see the guide: ➤ Domain Transfer

Is there a cost for exporting my data?

No. The data export options available through Papaki services are provided free of charge. Where data export is offered either directly by Papaki or through a third-party provider offering the service, you can access and export your data without any additional cost.

Are there any limitations on data export?

The availability and export format of data depend on:

  • the service you are using,
  • the service provider or vendor,
  • the access permissions you have,
  • the way the data is stored.

In some cases, data export is provided through the vendor's platform rather than directly through Papaki.

What if there is no export function available?

Some services may not provide a built-in data export feature. In these cases, you can:

  • use the tools provided by the service itself,
  • use export functions available in third-party applications,
  • download files or save information as PDF,
  • contact the Papaki support team.

Where technically feasible and permitted by the service or its provider, our team may assist you in obtaining your data or guide you through the appropriate export process.

Can I request that Papaki exports data on my behalf?

Yes. If the service you use does not provide an export mechanism, or if you are having difficulty accessing your data, you can contact our support team. Where technically feasible and permitted by the service or its provider, our team may help you obtain your data or recommend the most appropriate export method. Contact us for more information.
