Is it possible for a pre-registration to be cancelled?
A pre-registration can be canceled if the domain is not valid for registration. For now, a domain with one of the new extensions may not be valid for one of the following reasons:
1. It is an already registered trademark. The trademark owner has submitted it to the Trademark Clearinghouse and registered it during the Sunrise period. In the Sunrise period only trademark owners have the right to register domains with new extensions.
2. It is included in the list of invalid domains. ICANN in cooperation with the registries publishes, from time to time, lists of domains that cannot be registered for each new tld. The domains in these lists will not be available in the general availability period.
3. The domain doesn’t follow the rules set by the registry. Each registry responsible for managing a new tld can set certain rules in order for a domain to be valid.
A domain that has been pre-registered but belongs to one of the above categories can not be included in Papaki’s list for registration and the pre-registration will be cancelled.
