How do I enable or disable the 2nd level authentication to my account?

If Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is not yet enabled on your Papaki account, you’ll be prompted to activate it during login. While enabling 2FA is optional, we strongly recommend it for added security.  The prompt will appear every time you log in until 2FA is enabled—it cannot be disabled.

What Is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account.
In addition to your password, you’ll be asked for a second verification code—usually from your mobile phone or an authentication app. This way, even if someone knows your password, they won’t be able to access your account without this second step.

Why Enable 2FA?

  • Better protection: Your account stays safe even if your password is compromised.
  • Reduced risk of breaches: 2FA protects you from phishing, data leaks, or stolen passwords.
  • Easy to use: Most 2FA apps are quick, secure, and user-friendly.
  • Widely adopted: You probably already use it with your email, bank, or other services.
  • Peace of mind: You know your account is more secure.

How Do 2FA Apps Work?

  1. Scan a QR code during 2FA setup
  2. The app generates 6-digit codes that refresh every 30 seconds
  3. When logging in, you enter both your password and the generated code

How to enable 2FA on your Papaki account

You can enable 2FA in two ways:

Option 1: During Login

When prompted after login, click Activate Now

Option 2: From Your Account Settings

  1. From the left menu, go to Account, invoices and payments
  2. Click Two-Factor Authentication

Activation Steps

  1. Enter your Papaki account password to proceed
  1. If you don’t already have one, install an authentication app on your phone or computer (e.g., Google Authenticator, 1Password, etc.)
  2. Use the app to scan the QR code shown on screen
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from the app into the Confirmation field
    • If you can’t scan the QR code, you can manually enter the setup key shown next to the QR area
  4. Click Enable

Backup Codes

After successful activation, you’ll receive 10 one-time backup codes
These can be used in case you lose access to your authentication app or phone.

Important: Each backup code is valid for one-time use only and becomes inactive after use.

How to disable 2FA

If you’ve already enabled 2FA and want to turn it off:

  1. Go to Account, invoices and payments > Two-Factor Authentication
  2. Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Enter your Papaki account password and click Disable
  4. Confirm that you want to deactivate 2FA

Things to Keep in Mind

  • After disabling 2FA, we recommend deleting the 2FA entry from your app to avoid confusion if you re-enable it later
  • Backup codes are one-time use only and expire after they’re used
  • You can retrieve your backup codes at any time by navigating to Backup Codes, entering your Papaki password, and clicking Show
